Police on the scene mentioned the sizzling air balloon took off from Dendy Park, Melbourne, about 8am on Saturday morning (local time) and tried to land lower back at the Brighton park but become unable to do so.

The balloon, carrying 10 individuals together with the pilot, ultimately flew over the bay and tried to land in a shallow area, but drifted about two kilometres out from shore.

A family unit out on a ship trip noticed that the balloon became in challenge and raced to the rescue, with police boats, coast guards and boats from Melbourne's metropolitan fire brigade (MFB).

An MFB spokesperson pointed out the basket of the balloon was placed over the bow of the boat, and originally three passengers have been helped off the deflating balloon.

The decreased load enabled the balloon to fly higher for a long time, until it again misplaced altitude and finally all passengers have been evacuated.

The passengers were transferred to an MFB boat and taken to the Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron complicated.

A sparkling LPG cylinder was dispatched to the balloon, permitting the pilot to finally land it safely at Mount Martha, south of Melbourne.
